Dubai air regulator blacklists some Indian Covid testing labs

Monday, 29 Sep, 2020 0

Dubai’s Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) has ordered Air India Express not to accept any passengers with COVID-negative tests from four specific Indian laboratories.

It came after the DCAA suspended Air India Express flights for 24 hours earlier this month for allowing two passengers to travel who were deemed to be Covid-positive.

Air India Express said it has been told to ‘reject RT-PCR test reports from Suryam Lab in Jaipur; Microhealth Lab in the cities of Kerala. Dr P Bhasin Pathlabs (P) Ltd in Delhi; and Noble Diagnostic Centre in Delhi.’

According to UAE rules, passengers travelling from India must have negative Covid-19 certificates from RT-PCR tests done within 96 hours of travel.

Flights departing India have also run into trouble in Hong Kong.

Air India has twice been hit with temporary flight bans due to carrying Covid-positive passengers.

Hong Kong authorities had also questioned the quality of testing at Indian labs.
