Dubai BASE jumpers in towering leap
Skydive Dubai has broken a Guinness World Record for BASE-jumping off the pinnacle of the Burj Khalifa.
Skydive Dubai-sponsored Soul Flyers world champions Vince Reffet and Fred Fugen took the first leap off the tower, 828 meters tall, to claim the Guinness World Record title of the highest BASE jump from the tallest building.
The BASE jumpers trained in Switzerland by jumping off Lauterbeunnen Mountain, almost the same height as Dubai’s Burj Khalifa.
They continued to condition themselves by BASE jumping out of helicopters in Dubai to ensure they were ready for the leap off the world’s tallest building.
"This was the jump of a lifetime and an achievement of three years of hard training," said Fugen.
Skydive Dubai previously broke the Guinness World Record for the smallest parachute jump.
