Early success for Mytravel.com

According to Hitwise, marketshare figures have shown the steady rise of Mytravel.com since going live on November 27.

Starting with an encouraging 5% of marketshare, this week’s figures from the independent analyst show a jump to 9%, putting Lastminute.com into second place and outstripping another market leader, Expedia.

Chief executive Richard Carrick said: “It’s still early days for Mytravel.com and of course this is just one week, but it’s an excellent indication of things to come. We have been consistently in the top three positions for marketshare for the past four weeks.

“We’ve had an encouraging first eight weeks taking up to 30,000 sessions a day and have a high stickiness factor with 1,000s of successful on-line booking transactions.”

Mr Carrick added: “MyTravel.com is at the forefront of technology and we are at least two years ahead of any of our industry competitors. If another tour operator started to build the same specification dynamic website now it would take at least 18 months.”
