EasyJet announces flash sale

EasyJet has announced a flash sale, knocking up to 25% off 100,000 seats for the next five days.

The discounted fares are available on selected routes to and from the UK from October 24 to February 13 next year.

They have gone on sale today and will be available to book up to midnight on Tuesday, October 9.

EasyJet announced yesterday that its passenger numbers in September were up 14.2% year on year to 8.8 million, which includes traffic from its new operation at Tegel airport in Berlin, where it took over part of Air Berlin’s services earlier this year.

The airline said that passenger growth excluding Tegel was in line with the figures provided in its statement released at the end of September. Load factors are broadly flat year on year.

This morning, the airline announced that non-executive director Adele Anderson is to step down after seven years in the role.

She told the board that she will quit following the annual general meeting on February 7, 2019. She will also step down from her position as chair of the Audit Committee on January 1.

Julie Southern, who joined the easyJet board on August 1 this year will become chair of the Audit Committee.

Chairman John Barton said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Adele for her important contribution over the past seven years to the easyJet Board and specifically in her role as Audit Committee Chair. She has brought deep understanding and acumen to her responsibilities and she leaves us with our gratitude and best wishes.”

“I am very pleased to welcome Julie as Audit Committee Chair. Given her commercially oriented finance roles gained over her long and successful career, and in particular the aviation sector, she will bring valuable perception and insights to this important role.”~
