EasyJet flight diverted after passenger claims to have gun
An easyJet flight from Edinburgh to Madeira had to be diverted after a passenger claimed to have a gun on board.
The airline confirmed that flight EZY6957 on Monday was diverted to Lisbon where it was met by police due to a ‘passenger behaving disruptively’.
According to reports in the Mirror, a man sitting near the back of the plane started to become abusive, forcing the crew to rush through the plane as it suddenly began its descent.
After the plane landed in Lisbon, the captain told passengers that police would be boarding the aircraft and took statements from the pilot and crew and searched overhead lockers.
The incident caused the flight to be delayed by two hours.
An easyJet spokeswoman apologised to passengers for the inconvenience caused.
