EasyJet holidays joins ABTA
EasyJet holidays has joined ABTA after launching its new booking platform this week with ambitions to double its package holiday sales within the first year to one million passengers.
At the moment, the operator has a licence to carry just 104,500 customers between now and September 2020.
However, chief executive Garry Wilson said it was the operator’s intention to work with the Civil Aviation Authority to increase its ATOL shortly. The CAA confirmed it was in discussions with easyJet Holidays.
An ABTA Spokesperson said: "ABTA welcomes easyJet holidays as a new member today as it launches its new business in the UK. It is an exciting time in the run up to peak booking season for the year ahead, and the launch will provide customers with greater choice in the market.
"By being a member easyJet holidays customers will benefit from ABTA’s expert assistance and high standards through ABTA’s Code of Conduct. The ABTA logo gives customers confidence in the holiday products they buy from members who see it as a badge that they can trust."
Currently easyJet Holidays has a trade-only website, but Wilson insists the operator is working on a structure to sell through travel agents, with further news to be announced shortly.
