EasyJet passenger numbers rise 11% in December
EasyJet’s passenger carryings rose by 11% in December to 2.3 million over the same month last year.
Total revenue for the year was up by 20% to £1,381 million as the no frills carrier saw passenger numbers rise by almost 18% to 30.3 million against 2004 levels. The 2005 load factor rose marginally year-on-year to 84.9% from 84.6%.
Chief executive Andrew Harrison said: “December passenger numbers were in line with our expectations.
“Unit revenue for the month (total revenue per seat flown) showed a year on year improvement, supported by strong ancillary contributions.”
The carrier announced in December that it exercised its right to acquire 20 further Airbus A319 aircraft for delivery during 2008 and 2009 to ensure its continued growth to the end of the decade.
