EasyJet plans to resume Cyprus flights
Easyjet says it expects to restart flights to and from the holiday island of Cyprus today, but advises booked passengers to check for the latest updated information.
It had cancelled services after a drone on a RAF base on the island.
“Flights from March 3 are currently operating as planned, but we would advise customers due to travel over the coming days to check our flight tracker for the latest information,” the airline said.
Other carriers included British Airways halted flights after the attack.
Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said a drone hit the runway at the air base.
On Monday, a BA spokesperson said: ‘We are closely monitoring the situation and have cancelled a number of flights to the Middle East.
Referring to airlines’ duty of care for stranded passengers, the CAA said: “Airlines must provide you with these items, such as food and accommodation until it is able to fly you to your destination, no matter how long the delay lasts or what has caused it.”
“Sometimes airlines are unable to arrange care and assistance for all passengers. This can happen when staff are stretched during major disruptions.”
More than 60 flights were cancelled to Cyprus airports in the past two days.
It included 42 flights to Larnaca and 18 to Paphos.
Wizz Air is ‘closely monitoring’ the situation and says its ‘flight schedule may be adjusted as the situation evolves.’
