Easyjet seeks to avert looming pilots’ strike
EasyJet has put a ‘last minute’ offer to the pilot’s union BALPA to avert a strike over cockpit fatigue.
It followed a ballot organised by BALPA in which pilots voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action.
BALPA general secretary Brian Strutton said 96% of its members at easyJet votes for some form of industrial action. The turnout was 88%.
He added: "BALPA has now received a last minute offer from easyJet to resolve the dispute and we will consider this carefully in meetings tomorrow before taking any further decisions.
"For clarity that means there are no plans for pilots taking industrial action in easyJet at this stage. We will issue further information tomorrow."
