EasyJet to add extra flights to Jordan

Friday, 01 May, 2019 0

EasyJet is to double the number of flights to the Jordan coastal city of Aqaba for the coming winter, offering a twice weekly service from Gatwick.

Starting on October 29, the non-stop flights will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays until March 28, 2020.

The Jordan Tourism Board said visitor numbers to Aqaba had risen 21% following the launch of easyJet’s weekly service between London and the resort in August 2018 compared to the same month the previous year.

"The launch of the new flights has attracted travellers to the south of Jordan, with the Red Sea resort of Aqaba rapidly becoming a popular winter sun getaway," it said. "Growing adventure activities and tours, rapid development in Aqaba, and new cultural initiatives in the buzzing capital, Amman, have all helped to attract holidaymakers to explore Jordan beyond the well-known sites of Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea."
