Ebookers and Tiscover to partner online

Two of Europe’s market leaders in e-travel, ebookers and Tiscover, are to join forces online.

Under the agreement, ebookers will become the flight engine partner on Tiscover, the destination management system that powers the world’s largest family of destination portals.

Tiscover will become the destination partner on all 11 of ebookers’ European websites, offering tourist information on tourist regions, cities and towns across Europe. ebookers’ national sites set to feature Tiscover include those in France, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, UK and Germany.

According to both companies the deal, which is currently being implemented, will create the most comprehensive online travel resources in Europe with major benefits for consumers, tour operators, travel agents and other travel providers.

ebookers’ CEO Dinesh Dhamija said: “Tiscover’s reputation as a destination management system and tourism portal is second to none. By combining our online power with Tiscover’s we can offer consumers and travel providers an unrivalled online source for all their travel needs.”

Tiscover’s chief international business officer Karsten Kärcher said: “Customers are increasingly unwilling to waste time surfing multiple websites for their travel needs. They want one-stop online travel resources that bring together the best in destination information together with a comprehensive range of bookable components. This partnership with ebookers will create just that. Furthermore, it will strengthen both companies’ positions as they steam ahead in the e-travel race.”

* Tiscover is a tourism portal for Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Österreich Werbung (the Austrian Tourist Board) and Bayern Tourismus Marketing (the Bavarian Tourist Board) have adopted Tiscover as their official e-travel portal. In March 2002, Tiscover2002 was launched, which Tiscover says is the world’s most advanced e-tourism reservation-distribution solution.
