Brits face trial over holiday sickness scam
Eight British nationals have been charged for their role in an organised holiday sickness scam.
Siblings Laura Joyce and Marc Grimstead are the accused ringleaders of an organised scheme to defraud Mallorca hotels.
They are suspected of getting holidaymakers to lie about illness to claim compensation out of hotels.
The two had five other Brits working for them, collecting personal information from guests.
This information was sent to lawyers who filed fake claims.
The Spanish court has accounted for £176,000 in fraudulent compensation but the true total is thought to be much higher.
They targeted two hotel groups operating all-inclusive resorts.
They were described as a ‘profit-motivated organised gang’.
The siblings and co-accused are awaiting a trial date to be announced.
