Eight hurt
An NZPA report this morning says that eight people, all from one family, were hurt yesterday when a van rolled off Turoa Skifield road on Mt Ruapehu and down a 40-metre bank.
Ohakune chief fire officer Ben Gooddard, said the injured including a woman eight months pregnant, the Wanganui Chronicle reported.
She, the van driver and a nine-year-old girl were taken to Wanganui Hospital by rescue helicopter, the other five were taken by ambulance.
The girl had head injuries and the driver, a 36-year-old man, had multiple injuries, the Lion Foundation Rescue Helicopter said. They were reported to be in a stable condition last night.
Mr Goddard said the pregnant woman and her unborn child were also stable.
Three fire appliances, three ambulances and two rescue helicopters, the second from Palmerston North, were called in.
Further details were unavailable last night.
