EMBARGOED TILL 9AM FRI: Comedian Alan Carr to ‘hijack’ Laterooms TV ad
Last-minute hotel booking site Laterooms.com will be taking part in Channel 4’s Comedy Gala, being televised on Sunday.
During the charity show, which is being screened in aid of Great Ormond Street hospital, comedian Alan Carr will re-enact several brands’ previously televised adverts during the commercial breaks, starting from 9.15pm.
Included will be a re-enactment by ‘Chatty Man’ Carr of Lateroom’s ‘It’s Going To Be A Great Night’ campaign ad, in which he will ‘reveal himself to be a closet Bucks Fizz fan’ and ‘fall out with an over-excited Chris De Burgh’.
The hotel booking site is amongst six brands selected to receive the Ad Break Takeover treatment this year. Director of marketing Georgina Crosswell said: "The Ad Break Takeover is a perfect opportunity for us to have some fun with the brand, and help capture LateRooms.com’s unique personality, sense of humour and tone of voice."
This year, in a first for the Ad Break Takeover, viewers will be invited to Tweet their favourite ad using a hashtag displayed on screen (#GalaLateRooms) during the show. The winning advert will be screened for a second time before the end of the Gala.
Georgina continued: "Alan’s re-enactment of our Chris de Burgh advert has had us belly laughing, so we can’t wait to see it play out during Sunday night’s show. And of course, we’re hoping to secure a second airing of the advert through those all-important viewer votes."
As part of the campaign, LateRooms.com has made a £5,000 donation to Great Ormond Street and will also be encouraging people to donate through its social media channels.
