The three Australian Airports will join 16 international airports where supporters can follow every minute of the 64-match tournament courtesy of the Emirates Interactive Live Sites. The Melbourne and Sydney sites are set to launch in June 2006.
Emirates – an Official Partner of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ – will also make sure that fans are kept up to date with matches they may have missed thanks to highlights packages of earlier games and information regarding future match schedules, team standings and the latest FIFA news.
Eddie Lim, Emirates Airline Area Manager Australia, said: “Football is quickly becoming Australia’s favourite sport and this year’s FIFA World Cup will be watched by millions of people in every corner of the country.
“However, there are thousands of Australian fans who will be unable to watch the matches live due to travel commitments. As a FIFA World Cup partner, we wanted to make sure that Australian football fans are given as many opportunities as possible to follow the progress of the Socceroos.”
The Emirates Interactive Live Site will feature interactive screens, smaller screens showing classic matches from the past, a ticker display and an e-mail booth where fans can photograph themselves with a range of different backgrounds relating to Dubai, Emirates and the FIFA 2006 World Cup™.
Fans will also have the chance to have their photo taken with a life-size photograph of French superstar Thierry Henry.
