Emirates agrees to cap sales on Heathrow flights
Emirates has reached agreement with Heathrow Airport and will cap sales on flights.
A compromise was reached after talks between Emirates’ boss and Heathrow Airport’s CEO.
The Gulf carrier had previously rejected Heathrow’s demand to cut flights almost at the last minute.
Emirates Airlines is now capping sales of flights departing Heathrow until mid-August.
“Emirates agreed it was ready to work with the airport to remediate the situation over the next two weeks, to keep demand and capacity in balance, “a statement said.
“Emirates has capped further sales on flights out of Heathrow to assist Heathrow in its resource ramp up.”
“In the meantime, Emirates flights from Heathrow operate as scheduled and ticketed passengers may travel as booked.”
The airline had earlier condemned Heathrow’s handling of ‘airmageddon’ as ‘unreasonable and incompetent.’
Heathrow is capping capacity at 100,000 departing passengers per day.
