Emirates Hotels retreats to conservation
DUBAI – Emirates Hotels & Resorts has confirmed that Marriott has taken over the management of the 261-unit Harbour Hotel & Residences at the entrance to Dubai Marina.
Emirates Group has retained the ownership of the property, but it will be managed by Marriott International lodging portfolio from September 15.
The property will be rebranded the Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites later this year
Emirates Airline president Tim Clark said despite handing over the management of this property to Marriott, the company had received a good response from customers staying that the hotel and had “enjoyed an average occupancy of 76 percent for the yearâ€.
Clark said the partnership with Marriott would enable Emirates Hotels & Resorts to focus on its core business of conservation-based resorts with Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa, and with Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa in Australia, scheduled for ‘soft opening’ in October.â€
The agreement represents the second contract Marriott has signed with Emirates this year.
The company will also operate the 1614-room Emirates-owned JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai, which is currently under construction.

The Marriott International portfolio in Dubai currently consists of six properties represented by JW Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Renaissance, Marriott Executive Apartments and Courtyard by Marriott.
Another 11 Marriott International-flagged hotels are under development throughout the city.
