On Holiday Group chief executive Steve Endacott says his dynamic packaging product for the trade Holiday Brokers has already seen pre-protest numbers of bookings for Egypt.
With many suppliers offering 40% off normal prices, the travel industry stalwart says he sees Egypt booming this summer.
He said: “Now that even the ever cautious Foreign and Commonwealth Office have declared Egypt safe, it could not be a better time to grab a break to Egypt with hoteliers offering up to 40% off what were already the best value holiday hotels in the world.
“Holiday Brokers has already seen a surge in bookings back to pre-trouble levels but think sales are set to boom even further.”
Head of Egyptian purchasing at Holiday Brokers Joan Package added: “For the first time in my experience of travelling to Egypt there are no Germans or Russians paying top dollar for Egyptian hotels.
"UK operators are the only major airlines to have maintained their flying programmes to the key Egyptian destinations, such as Sharm el Sheikh, and the recent troubles have left plenty of empty seats to fill.”
British Airways, however, announced yesterday that it was pulling its Gatwick to Sharm El Sheikh service, launched just last October, in May.
Package added: “While visiting resorts in Sharm El Sheikh I found the atmosphere to be very pleasant and sociable with a real feeling of camaraderie. Hoteliers on average only have 20% occupancy so British customers really are being looked after like royalty.”
