Enjoy funk, food and rock at the Red River Arts Festival
The 32nd annual Red River Revel Arts Festival promises foot-stomping music, exciting entertainment and delectable fare that the entire family can enjoy. The Revel will begin Saturday, September 29 through October 6.
This year’s Revel will feature big name performers like ten-time Grammy award-winner Emmylou Harris and George Clinton with Parliament Funkadelic. Other entertainers include country sensation Carter’s Chord. Also on the bill are local and regional entertainers performing gospel, jazz and international selections.
More than 150 visual artists from across the country will be at the Revel to showcase and sell their original works-of-art. Everything from paintings to sculptures and jewelry to glass can be purchased at the Revel. This year, there will be 35 new visual artists with their original collections.
There will also be new mouth-watering delicacies at the festival including jambalaya wraps and sausage and beef po-boys. Of course, the favorites like bread pudding and turkey legs will be available, too. And with an excess of 20 food booths, even the pickiest eater will be able to find something to satisfy their tastes. Revel 32 will also feature a Market with appetizing culinary creations to take home, like pralines, jellies and dips.
The Revel’s main focus is to promote the arts in Northwest Louisiana. With that in mind, the children’s area has a wide array of youngster entertainment and hands-on-activities to support that cause. The Creation Station allows kids to make their own art, hats and jewelry to take home. There will be an archeological dig site, KIDFISH catch tank, rock climbing, and so much more. In the children’s area, performers will get the kids involved with sing-a-long music and interactive stories.
