European aviation industry denounce China Covid tests
Airlines have called out the imposition of China Covid tests.
A4E (Airlines for Europe) IATA and ACI EUROPE are united against pre-departure tests for inbound flights from China.
The EU recommended member states require a negative Covid-19 test for passengers from China.
This is at odds with the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, they say.
“China Covid tests cannot be considered a scientifically driven measure.”
A4E, ACI EUROPE and IATA support testing wastewater from airports and aircraft instead.
The EU’s recommendation is a ‘knee-jerk’ reaction.
“We urge EU member states and China to work together and reconsider their requirements for pre-departure testing.”
