Eurostar in Da Vinci Code film tourism push
An international tourism campaign to boost tourism on the back of the film of the best seller The Da Vinci Code has been unveiled by Eurostar.
The company will become a global partner of the film in what is claimed to be a multi-million dollar partnership.
The channel tunnel passenger train service has linked up with Visit Britain, Visit London, Visit Scotland and Maison de la France in an international campaign to promote the film particularly in the US, France, Belgium and the UK.
Eurostar promotions will encourage tourists to take their own Da Vinci trail and follow in the footsteps of the book’s hero Robert Langdon, played by Tom Hanks in the film.
The book has already been credited with increasing tourism to locations featured in the plot and the May 19 release of the film is expected to further boost interest in the destinations.
Eurostar communications director Paul Charles said: “The Da Vinci Code has had a major impact on the numbers choosing to travel with Eurostar to London and Paris and so it makes sense for us to be at the heart of the film release of 2006.”
