Eurotunnel cuts bookings due to border staffing fears
Eurotunnel has cut the number of bookings available to car, lorry and coach customers over fears of long delays due to staff shortages at border control.
The Sunday Times reported that Groupe Eurotunnel SA (GET) expects delays of more than four hours to its services this summer and has cut bookings to ease expected congestion between France and the UK.
The company is concerned that the diversion of U.K. immigration staff to London’s Heathrow airport during the Olympic Games will leave the Channel Tunnel inadequately covered.
The UK Border Agency said it had agreed plans with Eurotunnel and French authorities to cope with busy periods.
