EVA Air launching first new European route in 20 years
Taiwan carrier EVA Air has announced a new long haul route to Milan, which is its first new route launch to Europe for 20 years.
EVA will start flying to Milan Malpensa Airport on February 18, 2020.
The airline will use a 316-seat Boeing 777-300ER for the four times a week year-round service from Taipei Taoyuan Airport.
"We expect many travellers on the route to fly point-to-point between Taipei and Milan, but we also anticipate significant volumes of passengers and cargo transfer traffic," said Andrea Tucci, VP of aviation business development for airport operator SEA Group.
Milan Malpensa is currently linked with 17 Asian destinations.
Star Alliance member EVA Air flies to 65 cities, including 11 in North America and 50 in Asia and Oceania.
Its other European routes are to Amsterdam, London-Heathrow, Paris and Vienna.
"Adding a top-quality carrier like EVA Air to our airline roll call at Malpensa is a real coup for us," added Tucci.
