Ex Gold Medal boss is milestone BA customer
Ex Gold Medal boss Terry Fisher was the 250,000th British Airways customer at Leeds Bradford Airport this week.
Fisher, now CEO of marketing and publishing company Mapperarti UK, frequently uses the Yorkshire airport to connect with BA flights to California from Terminal 5, Heathrow.
"Running a worldwide travel company I need to regularly fly across the Atlantic to Los Angeles and the British Airways services from Leeds Bradford connecting through Terminal 5 have transformed the way I travel from Yorkshire," said Fisher.
"There is no doubt that British Airways services are now benefiting a wide number of regional businesses who need to gain quick and convenient access to global markets."
TravelMole initially thought it was too much of a coincidence that Fisher, a well known face in the travel industry, had been the milestone passenger, but BA insisted he genuinely was 250,000th customer to check-in.
"This wasn’t actually a publicity stunt as we have a very high number of frequent flyers travelling from Leeds Bradford Airport so there was always a very real possibility that one of them would be our milestone passenger," said a spokeswoman.
Fisher, who was also the previous owner of TravelWorld, will be rewarded with a bottle of champagne on his return to the UK.
