Exodus delivers aid to remote villages hit by earthquake
Exodus staff in Nepal have been delivering essential aid to remote villages in Nepal damaged by two earthquakes last month.
The guides have been distributing medical supplies sent from the UK to hospitals in Kathmandu and the surrounding area, assisted by the Rotary Club of Kasthamandap and the High Altitude Welfare Workers Association.
Exodus, which has been distributing sacks of rice, sleeping bags and tarpaulin to protect people from the elements, said aid had been delivered to remote villages that otherwise might have been overlooked following the devastating earthquakes.
Managing director Pete Burrell, who flew out Kathmandu to support the Exodus team in its relief effort, said: "Exodus has always been proud of our leaders, but never more so than under circumstances like this. Their kindness, generosity and desire to help others is humbling and it’s an honour and a pleasure to work with them."
One guide, Keshar, spent last weekend delivering tarpaulin, mosquito nets and basic food supplies to two badly damaged villages in north east Nepal.
Two other leaders, Gele and Jangbu, have been in the Okhaldunga District, where they arrived at Gele’s village with 15 tents for the families who had lost their homes, sacks of rice and supplies.
It said more aid was heading out, this time to the Langtang region which was decimated by the first of the two earthquakes on April 25. A second cargo of medical supplies is also on its way to Kathmandu.
