A new managing director and vice president has been named for Expedia Distribution following the departure of Karen Bohannon who returned to the US last year.

Tamer Tamar will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the business, formerly Expedia Private Label, across the EMEA region.

Tamar has been with Expedia since 2004, when he started as business development manager for UK point of sale.

He was then promoted to director of car hire and was most recently director of corporate development.

Before joining Expedia, Tamar was a management consultant for AT Kearney specialising in supplier negotiations and business growth strategies.

David Roche, senior vice president of Expedia EMEA, said: “Tamer brings substantial expertise in business development and strategic planning, as well as expertise in implementing online growth strategies.

“He takes the reins at an exciting growth period for Expedia Distribution, as we add new partnerships by extending into new geographies and sectors, and exceed the needs of our existing clients by improving our offering.”
