Explore relaunches Northern Japan tour
Specialist operator Explore has added the Sapporo Snow Festival, a 10-night tour of Northern Japan, to its Japan tour portfolio.
The relaunched trip includes a cruise on an ice breaker in the Sea of Okhostk and a scenic winter train ride to Japan’s annual Snow and Ice Festival.
Sapporo Snow Festival has three trip departure dates: 2, 3 and 4 February 2024.
Held annually over seven days, the festival takes place across three venues and displays hundreds of snow statues and ice sculptures.
Explore MD, Michael Edwards, said “We are seeing huge demand for Japan. So adding Northern Japan brings a great alternative that highlights the lesser-known cultural aspects.”
There is time to explore Tokyo, and historic Kyoto during the Norther Japan tour.
The new revised itinerary this time includes a train journey from Hokkaido to Kyoto, meaning reduced carbon but also a more authentic travel experience.
The current Explore tour portfolio includes discovery, walking, cycling and family holidays to over 100 countries.
