Extended Stay pulls third-party inventory
Extended Stay Hotels is creating its own booking site and pulling inventory from nearly all third-party merchant model sites that offer rooms at a discount, the chain said.
The only Web site the company will continue to supply inventor to is Priceline.
The chain has 650 hotels.
The strategy is to create a clearinghouse that travelers can use when they need to book the property, which typically covers stays of at least five to seven nights.
“A best rate guarantee has been put in place to ensure travelers don’t find lower rates elsewhere on the Web,” said Gary DeLapp, president and CFO of Extended Stay Hotels’ parent, HVM LLC.
HVM LLC is an affiliate of the Blackstone Group, which acquired Extended Stay America earlier this year.
Extended Stay became the second major hotelier this year to pull inventory from third-party sites.
InterContinental Hotels Group announced this year it also would no longer provide rooms to Espedia.com and Expedia Corporate Travel.
