FAA extending ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against unruly passengers
The Federal Aviation Administration has no intention of ending its ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against unruly anti-maskers. The FAA recently announced more stringent enforcement over rules requiring passengers to follow the crew’s safety instructions, and wear masks. It was set to end iat the end of March but will continue.
"The policy directs our safety inspectors and attorneys to take strong enforcement action against any passenger who disrupts or threatens the safety of a flight, with penalties ranging from fines to jail time," FAA Administrator Steve Dickson said.
The FAA has opened 20 enforcement cases and is reviewing nearly 500 more cases of reported unruly behaviour. It has already proposed several fines in the tens of thousands of dollars for unruly passengers.
