Fake flight attendant who scammed airlines convicted

A man who operated a ‘Catch Me If You Can’ style airline scam has been found guilty of defrauding airlines out of more than 100 free flights.

Tiron Alexander, 35, was convicted of an elaborate scheme to get 120 free flights from airlines over several years.

He posed as a flight attendant for four different airlines between 2018 and 2024 to secure free airline crew flights.

He used dozens of fake airline IDs, prosecutors said.

He was convicted of entering the secure area of an airport under false pretenses and wire fraud.

Alexander flew 34 times with one airline, claiming to be an off duty flight attendant, and used fake IDs from seven different airlines.

“The evidence at trial also showed that Alexander posed as a flight attendant on three other airline carriers,” prosecutors said.

“Ultimately, Alexander booked more than 120 free flights by falsely claiming to be a flight attendant.”

He did actually work for a Dallas based airline but never as a member of flight crew.

The Transportation Security Administration said he did not pose a security risk.

“While Alexander was able to board flights by fraudulently obtaining a boarding pass, he underwent all applicable TSA security procedures, including ID verification and physical screening,” the TSA said.

His sentencing is set for August.
