Family group travel off the beaten path
The Colorado-based Asia Transpacific Journey’s has started marketing trips to far-flung places never considered for family vacations a few years ago.
“Our sensitive and seasoned guides make extensive use of nature to lead children into the hows and whys of particular histories and culture,” said Marilyn Downing Staff, CEO.
Among trips she advises:
- Private journeys to explore bat caves in Borneo.
- Riding elephants to hill tribes in Thailand.
- Seeing crocodiles and kangaroos along Australia’s famed Gold Coast.
Ms Downing Staff, herself a parent, suggests such trips develop student’s critical thinking skills and help them become global citizens at an early age.
Asia Transpacific Journeys has been giving private Custom Journeys and Small Group trips since 1987.
In 2006, the company has 18 group departures, plus custom programs that involve 20 countries.
