Airbus may have to delay future deliveries of its A380 after it emerged that Rolls Royce is to use engines earmarked for new superjumbos to replace faulty ones in existing A380s.
The aircraft manufacturer has said that if this occurs then it will pass on the full cost to Rolls Royce, the sole suppliers of the Trent 900.
Yesterday it was revealed that as many as half of all the Trent 900 engines used globally in A380s may have to be replaced after a Qantas emergency landing two weeks ago revealed a fault.
Currently Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa operate the A380s in their fleets.
A spokesman at Airbus said: “Airbus will seek full compensation from Rolls-Royce for any costs that it incurs.”
