Fiji resorts weather the storm
Resorts in Fiji are returning to normal operations as a clean-up following tropical cyclone Evan continues across the islands.
Plantation Island Resort welcomed some 200 guests, including a wedding party, arriving on the Malolo Cat sea transfer from Port of Denarau Marina.
The wedding ceremony was postponed for 24 hours, allowing the resort staff to finalise clean-up operations.
The management of Plantation Island Resort’s sister property, the neighbouring Lomani Island Resort, advised the resort has escaped structural damage and is fully operational while in Nadi, the Raffles Gateway Hotel is also operating normally.
Air Pacific operated most of its flights per normal on Wednesday with some slight delays due to schedule impacts resulting from the tropical cyclone which passed Fiji early morning Tuesday.
Dave Pflieger, Air Pacific managing director and CEO, said: "The fact that we were the only airline flying to and from Australia on Tuesday, and the first airline to bring in passengers from New Zealand is a testament to the work ethic of our team here in Nadi, and proof once again of the value of having a national carrier."
