Fiji tourist arrival picks up
A report by Fiji Broadcasting says that tourists’ arrival into the country have picked up as stakeholders market overseas for more visitors.
New Zealand investor and owner of the Wananavu Resort in Rakiraki, Walters said Rakiraki is fortunate in terms of the development of its tourism industry.
“We do a lot of direct marketing that is, me physically leaving Fiji going to the US four times a year.”
“The same goes for Australia, New Zealand while we are trying to break into the UK market so for Wananavu- our role is generally to let people know this side of the island that’s the majority of our marketing,” he said.
Walters said while many visitors want to know about the coup, most do not even know what happened on December 5, last year.
“I mean we can strongly say our experiences here at Wananavu especially for our US travelers, they would not have a clue what’s happening here anyway, and really the people don’t see anything so I don’t think it really needs to be promoted in any shape or form or about what’s happening.”
“It’s a political argument and should stay that way.”
