Final Frontier for departure times on boarding passes

Thursday, 11 Jun, 2015 0

Hoping to shed an unwanted title as the least punctual airline in the US, Frontier Airlines has made a radical decision to remove departure times from boarding passes altogether.

Instead boarding passes now display the time when ‘boarding begins’ and when ‘boarding gate closes’ which is generally 10 minutes before the official departure time.

"It’s part of our emphasis to ensure an on-time departure for our customers," said Frontier spokesman Jim Faulkner.

"If the door closes 10 minutes before scheduled departure, customers still have time to stow their bags, get their seatbelts fastened and get settled in so that the plane can push back from the gate on time or before."

"If we’re closing the door at the same time as the scheduled departure time, we’re already running behind," he added.
