Finnair inks JV with China’s Juneyao Air
Finnair is joining hands in a joint venture partnership with Shanghai-based Juneyao Air.
The carriers signed a letter of intent to combine resources on routes linking Helsinki and Shanghai Pudong Airports.
It expands further on the carriers’ existing codesharing partnership.
"Taking the important step will allow us to not only serve our current customers even better, but also to lay a platform for further growth in the future, once the aviation market starts to normalise," said Ole Orver, CCO at Finnair.
Last year the airlines began a reciprocal loyalty scheme for Finnair Plus and Juneyao Air Club members.
Due to the current global covid-19 crisis, no timeframe has been placed on the JV launch yet.
Asia is a major focus for Finnair’s long haul schedules although it has cut nearly all routes due to the pandemic.
The only Asia route currently in operation is Tokyo.
