Sunday, 18 May, 2007 0

The first of 20 planned Hilton Garden Inns in the UK and Ireland is to open in Luton next year.

Described as an upper mid-market brand, core facilities include complimentary WiFi in guestrooms and public areas, a restaurant as well as evening room service.

Bedrooms feature a work desk, air conditioning and LCD satellite television. A “hospitality centre” includes a microwave, mini refrigerator and coffee maker.

Public areas include a lounge in the lobby featuring a library and fireplace; a bar with plasma screen television; and a shop selling ready made meals, drinks and snacks.

The 155-room Hilton Garden Inn Luton North will be located in the Butterfield Business Park.

The Luton property will join other locations in Europe including Stuttgart, Florence and Rome Airport.

Simon Vincent, Hilton’s UK & Ireland area president, said: “This first Hilton Garden Inn signing signals a new era for Hilton in the UK. With Luton as an important business hub with a large population centre, good access to a growing airport and its easy distance to the sights and sounds of London, the launch of the upper mid-market Hilton Garden Inn in this location is sure to be a success.

“We are excited about the development opportunity and look forward to further announcements for Hilton Garden Inn across the UK and Ireland. We have plans to open 20 Hilton Garden Inn hotels in the next four to five years.”

Hilton Garden Inn brand management senior vice-president Adrian Kurre said: “We look forward to debuting Hilton Garden Inn in Luton North and establishing the mid market category in the UK with our key brand attributes like complimentary high-speed internet access, 24-hour business centre, the Garden Sleep System bed and Mirra chair by Herman Miller, which have made Hilton Garden Inn the preferred hotel choice for travellers throughout North America.”
