Five tourists drown at Florida beach town in four days
Officials in Panama City Beach, Florida warned tourists not to venture far from the beach after a spate of drowning deaths.
Five tourists died in just four days since last week due to strong rip currents.
There have been two other deaths in the state in the same time after a married couple died near West Palm Beach.
The latest Panama City Beach victim was woman from St. Louis, Missouri.
She was named by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office as 60-year-old Debbie Szymanski.
She was rescued from the water by family members but later died.
It followed the death of an Oklahoma teen on Sunday and two days earlier, three men travelling together from Birmingham, Alabama drowned.
On Sunday after the fourth death, the Sheriff’s Office urged people not swim due to the dangerous conditions.
