Flashpackers on the move
A report in the Fiji Times says that a new stream of tourists is emerging with flashpackers, the backpackers of the new millennium, says Fiji’s first flashpacker resort Mango Bay Resort.
Sales and Marketing Director Claire McDonnell said they had specifically built the resort to cater for flashpacker needs, adding that flashpackers are a wealthier version of backpackers and travel with more possessions, including the latest hi-tech equipment such as digital cameras, i-pods and designer wear sunglasses apart from the mobile phones.
Flashpackers share a similar interest to backpackers and they enjoy the adventure of new discoveries.
Up in the Serua hills, where the adults only Mango Bay Resort is located, flashpackers have access to internet services, SKY Television and accommodation to suit individual budgets.
The resort opened 18 months ago and claims to be Fiji’s first flashpacker resort.
