Flight Centre buys Canadian agency
Flight Centre Travel Group is filling up its shopping cart again with yet another acquisition.
Its latest purchase is Quebec City-based travel company Les Voyages Laurier du Vallon, the fifth acquisition in barely a month.
Flight Centre has also announced it will acquire hotel management firm BHM Asia, Mexico’s Olympus Tours and two travel companies in New Zealand.
FLT managing director Graham Turner said Les Voyages Laurier du Vallon gives it a significant foothold in the Francophone market.
“Quebec is a large and attractive market for FLT, but our ability to expand and grow market share in this province has, until now, been constrained,” he said.
“By working with LDV, we will be able to leverage the business’s local expertise, experience and linguistic capabilities to grow our presence in Canada’s second largest market, which is a major corporate hub and home to a large and active leisure travel population.”
LDV has been established since the 1960s and is one of the largest independent agencies in Quebec.
It has a workforce of about 100 in Quebec City and Montreal and luxury leisure travel accounts for about half of sales volume.
LDV general manager Nicolas Racine will continue at the helm and it will continue operating as a standalone business.
