Flight Centre makes two more acquisitions
Flight Centre has been busy on the acquisition trail again, snapping up companies in Asia and the Americas.
It has acquired Cancun based DMC Olympus Tours, which operates in Mexico, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica offering day trips, cruise land tours and tour group excursions.
Flight Centre managing director Graham Turner said: "We will now have a footprint for further expansion into mainland USA and Hawaii and into neighbouring markets in the Caribbean and in South and Central America."
The company has also entered the hotel management business with the purchase of Bespoke Hospitality Management Asia.
Bangkok based BHMA operates well known lifestyle brands including X2, X2 Vibe and Away Resorts and Villas.
It has 14 properties in Thailand and has another 19 under development in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.
"This is a logical first step into hotel management and will deliver numerous benefits. Through BHMA, we will gain access to a hotel operating platform that is scalable globally," Turner said.
BHMA chief executive Anthony McDonald will remain at the helm.
"Strategically, this is a perfect fit – Flight Centre has customers that need hotels and BHMAsia has hotels that need customers. By leveraging FLT’s global distribution network, BHMAsia-managed hotels can deliver improved returns to their owners and an end-to-end experience for FLT customers," McDonald said.
