Flight diverted as baby is born
Crew on board a Southwest Airlines flight had to divert the plane and help delivery a baby earlier this week after a passenger went into labour just after take-off.
Luckily, a nurse and a doctor were on board the Tuesday morning flight from San Francisco to Phoenix and assisted in the delivery.
Other passengers on the flight didn’t even realise what was happening until the Captain made an announcement that a new passenger was now on board – a baby boy.
Air traffic controllers cleared the way for the plane to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles where the LA Fire Department and paramedics took over.
"It was like Moses parting the waters," Capt. John Gordy told American news networks.
"I can’t think of anything else that’s gonna top that, not in a while."
Mother and baby are reportedly doing well.
