Flight from UK one of two to declare inflight emergency over France
A Ryanair flight from Liverpool was one of two aircraft forced to divert to Bordeaux in France this morning due to mid-flight emergencies.
The Ryanair flight FR9886 to Alicante and Germanwings’ flight 4U 9642 are both believed to have landed safely at the French airport.
A Ryanair spokesman said its flight diverted to Bordeaux after a passenger became ill onboad.
The crew called ahead for medical assistance and the flight was met by medics.
The reason for the diversion of the Germanwings’ flight, which was travelling from Dusseldorf to Faro, has not been confirmed but it is understood it was due to a similar medical emergency.
Some on Twitter claimed a male passenger in his 60s or 70s was suffering heart problems.
