Flight turns back after crew injured by turbulence
A flight had to turn back after five flight attendants were injured after sudden turbulence hit while they were trying to serve dinner.
About 50 minutes into the United Airlines flight, when the aircraft was near Quebec, a bout of turbulence caused minor injuries, bumps and bruises to five crew.
The plane was flying from Newark to Beijing with 189 passengers and 16 crew.
The captain decided to return to Newark, where the aircraft landed safely about 2 hours later. The injured were taken to a hospital.
The Canadian TSB reported the flight crew declared medical emergency after multiple flight attendants sustained injures when the aircraft experienced severe turbulence last week, said the Aviation Herald, a website recording flight incidents.
