Flights cancelled due to Italy strikes
Travellers are being warned of disruption to flights as ground handlers in Italy stage industrial action today (Thursday).
British Airways said the strikes, across different airports in Italy, will lead to a small number of cancellations.
It said some services will be re-timed to avoid the strike period, which is from 13:00 to 17:00 local time.
"We will be using larger aircraft wherever possible to help customers whose flights have been cancelled," it said.
EasyJet said its flights will also be affected.
"We are doing everything possible to minimise the impact to our customers and we have proactively taken the decision to cancel some flights to allow customers to re-organise their travel plans," it said.
"All customers on the affected flights will be informed by SMS and Email. Up to date information on the situation will also be available on this webpage and on our Flight Tracker."
It said any affected customers will be offered a free of charge transfer to a new flight or a full refund.
Meanwhile, Italian air traffic controllers plan to stage strikes on October 24 between 10:00 and 18:00.
