Flights hit by record breaking US snow storms
Many flights to and from New York and other US east coast airports have been cancelled or delayed due to severe snow storms.
New York City suffered the biggest blizzard in its history, according to Mayor Michael Bloomberg as almost 27 inches of snow lay in Central Park.
Airports in New York and Washington DC were shut and more than 2,000 flights were cancelled yesterday, including many transatlantic services. Services from Boston were also disrupted.
The US National Weather Service described the situation as “dangerous and life-threatening”, according to BBC reports.
