Flights resume at Abu Dhabi
Flights have resumed at Abu Dhabi Airport after being suspended for a short time yesterday in severe weather.
The airport has played down the impact of the weather as videos emerged showing damage.
It said a particular video circulating on social media showing a ceiling collapsing was not at the airport but was at the retail complex Sky Park Plaza, which is opposite the airport’s Terminal 3.
"Abu Dhabi Airports can confirm that there has not been any ceiling damage at Abu Dhabi International Airport," it said.
Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2016, being held at Al Bateen Executive Airport, was cancelled yesterday but is open again today.
"A video has been circulating on social media showing an aircraft sliding towards another aircraft at Al Bateen Executive Airport during yesterday’s storm," the airport tweeted.
"This situation has been rectified and the Expo is fully open today for its last day."
Emirates and Etihad had both cancelled flights yesterday due to the severe weather.
Last night, Emirates was continuing to warn of possible disruption to its Dubai services.
