Flooding hits Acapulco resort and closes airport
The seaside resort of Acapulco has been affected by flooding after a tropical storm and hurricane threatened Mexico.
Hurricane Ingrid and tropical depression Manuel brought heavy rains to the Gulf and Pacific coasts on Sunday, causing flooding and landslides and killing 21 people.
The area around the seaside resort of Acapulco has been badly affected with flooding and landslides caused by Tropical storm Manuel.
Eleven people died as buildings and walls collapsed under the weight of the rain, reports Reuters.
Acapulco airport and the motorway between Mexico City and Acapulco were also closed due to heavy rain, the Foreign Office reported.
It has not been confirmed whether this has reopened.
Hurricane Ingrid has caused floods in the Gulf of Mexico and is due to make landfall in Veracruz and Tamaulipas today.
The Foreign Office warns if you are in the area, make sure you monitor local media and follow the Mexican government instructions on evacuation.
