Flu Causes Belize Responsible Tourism Conference to Postpone – Call for Responsible Tourism Week
The ICRT World Conference in Belize has been postponed. Say the organizers: “Today it is clear that with many countries having banned all but essential travel to Mexico and the government of Belize having banned public meetings we have no choice but to postpone the conference to a date later in the year. No confirmed cases have been detected in Belize to date however regional authorities, the local government and the Belize Ministry of Health are currently engaged in precautionary measures to abate the spread of virus.”

As a consequence of the ban on public gatherings and the travel advisories against travel to Mexico the organizers say that they have no choice but to postpone. It is said that alternative dates will be arranged.
The third annual World Conference on Responsible Tourism by the International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) was to be held on 18 May. The Belize Tourist Board recently announced its sponsorship of the event which focuses on the responsibility for sustainable tourism and addresses local economic development through tourism, the impact of second homes or condo hotels, the impact of mass tourism to the marine environment as well as climate change.
