Forecast for Hawaii: sunnier skies
The mops were out in Hawaii after six weeks of record-setting storms that were beginning to discourage tourists.
Some hotel rooms reported partial closings because of water damage but roads and resort were generally open, according to tourism officials.
Signs warning visitors to stay out of the water because of contamination were being removed along Waikiki’s shoreline.
Said Derek Wroe, a National Weather meteorologist:
“We’re looking for increasingly drier weather.”
